Currency products are traded as pairs in which currencies are weighted against one another.

Commodities
What is commodities trading?
The Commodities markets such as Gold and Oil are popular with traders due to their trending nature and sometimes rapid moves resulting from geopolitical and economic risks and uncertainty, as well as sudden dramatic shifts in supply and demand. This potential for high volatility and large price moves combined with 24/5 trading, and generous trading conditions, has made the commodities market a place of risk and reward for the advanced trader.
How does commodity CFD trading work?
Trading commodity CFDs with Global Prime is very much like trading FX. Instead of buying or selling an amount of base currency against a counter currency, you are buying or selling a number of units of a commodity against the US dollar. For example, one contract of XAUUSD is 100 ounces of Gold while one contract of XTIUSD is 100 barrels of West Texas Intermediate crude oil. Commodities trade almost 24/5, have overnight financing and do not expire.
What commodity CFDs does Global Prime offer?
Gold, silver, WTI crude, Brent crude, platinum, palladium, copper, natural gas, cotton, corn, coffee, sugar, orange juice, soybean, wheat.
Where are Global Prime's commodity CFD prices derived from?
Pricing of Energies - Our Energy CFDs are continuous pricing, i.e. non-expiring products that aim to deliver a fair value estimation of the spot energy price, based on a weighted average (according to time of expiry) of the front month and back month futures contracts.
Pricing of Copper and Soft Commodities such as Cotton, Corn, Coffee, etc., (anything grown instead of mined) represent an average of the listed futures contract, e.g. the spot price for USDX in August would encompass the value of the futures contract which expires in September as well as the contract that expires in December.
Are Global Prime's Commodity CFDs deliverable?
No. All commodity trading is available only as a CFD, that is a non-deliverable, cash settled product.
What is the difference between WTI and UK Oil?
WTI is the spot energy product that follows the West Texas Intermediate blend. Colloquially, WTI crude refers to the price of the New York Mercantile Exchange WTI crude oils futures contract.
UK oil or Brent Crude oil generally refers to the price of the ICE Brent Crude Oil futures contract.
Does the commodity CFD pricing follow the price of the futures market exclusively?
No, our Energy CFDs are continuous pricing, i.e. non-expiring products that aim to deliver a fair value estimation of the spot energy price, based on a weighted average (according to time of expiry) of the front month and back month futures contracts.
Calculation of weighted average
Calculation: (price of contract 'a' X days remaining in the contract) + (price of contract 'b' X days remaining in the contract) / total days. Liquidity providers also consider variables like liquidity and volatility of underlying markets and adjust prices accordingly.

What is the difference between a demo trading account, a trading simulator, and a paper trading account?
A demo trading account, trading simulator, or paper trading account is simply another name for the same thing.
What are the drawbacks of demo trading?
We are committed to transparency, and it is our mission to ensure that you are prepared for whatever your trading journey might lead you to. Just like anything else, demo trading has its drawbacks. Among them are the following:
You will not acquire the healthy anxiety you'll need to be a success in trading.
Even if you made money with a demo account, you won't necessarily be a skilled trader. When losses mean nothing in a controlled setting, your emotions around them and even earnings have little impact on your decisions. You must have practical experience in the real world to grasp and control the psychological aspect of trading.
You can become complacent or develop bad habits.
Demo accounts might give the impression that you have a lot of expertise. Traders find it difficult to master risk effectively with a demo account. The problem with fake money is that it also encourages them to take more risks than they would with actual cash. This way of trading might lead to undesirable financial behaviours.
You may not realise how you will really act when you're trading with your own money.
Cut your losses quickly and let your profits run! This is true, but in most cases, it's difficult to put into action with a real account. It's not easy to discover ideal entry points when trading but knowing when to get out is the most difficult part. When it comes to taking gains (which might lead to profits), it's a breeze, but when it comes time to take losses (which may lead to greater gains), things become more complicated.
In no way do we discourage you from creating a demo account! It is the best way to practice trading risk-free. Understanding the existing drawbacks will keep you safe from making mistakes along the way.
What is the minimum amount needed to open a trading account?
There is no minimum starting balance. We pride ourselves on making trading available to everyone, so we charge zero deposit fees and no required minimum account size.
Where can I find the download link for MT4 for Windows?
You can find the download link for MT4 in the GP Hub under the Platforms tab or underneath the “create an account” button on the MT4 Desktop.

Will my Pro Account still have access to AFCA?
Yes. Pro Accounts may lodge a dispute with AFCA. We have no control over AFCA’s approach to wholesale clients and whether they will accept a dispute or not.
Can I classify my SMSF or my Company Account as a Professional Investor?

Why does a qualified accountant need to certify my eligibility?

- belong to one of the following professional bodies at the declared membership classification,

Market Hours
What GMT offset are our charts set to?
To align the daily chart candles with New York close (5pm ET), Global Prime server time and charts are GMT + 2 or GMT + 3 when daylight savings is in effect.
What are the underlying market hours for Forex?
Trading Hours - The foreign exchange market trades 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. This is from 5pm New York (ET) on Sunday through to 5pm New York on Friday. Global Prime quotes on most Forex pairs from the open on Sunday through to the close on Friday. The daily break time of Forex is 23:59-00:02 server time. During this time you are unable to trade. Prices are generally wide and erratic from the low liquidity arising from the end of day processes at all the major trading banks across the world.
What are the underlying market hours for indices?
The market hours for indices follows the underlying market from which they are based. For instance, US500 will follow the NYSE market hours whereas the ASX will follow the Australian market hours. For more information Market Hours page.
Is trading out of market hours more risky?
Trading outside of market hours generally results in high spreads and increased volatility. This is primarily due to there being less liquidity available in the market during these times. Further, in the case of indices or commodity futures, these products are priced as fair value estimates of the futures underlying markets. Accordingly, after the underlying market closes, LP’s have to formulate a price that represents where the underlying market would be if it was still operating. During these times, there is nowhere for LP’s to hedge their exposure so to account for the increased risk, they must increase spreads to offset their exposure.
Generally speaking, times that involve increased spreads and scarce liquidity are indicative of a more volatile trading environment that carries an increased risk level.
Do Global Prime’s trading hours follow daylight savings time?
Yes they do, these times are typically GMT +2 for non-daylight savings, and GMT+3 during the daylight savings period.
Swaps & Fees
How is a swap rate determined?
The swap rate that we provide to traders on Forex and Metal CFDs is determined primarily by the interbank interest rates, taking into account other factors such as the interest rate differential between currencies and liquidity in overnight funding markets.
Where does Global Prime get its prices for swaps?
Global Prime’s Swap rates are derived from top non-bank market makers and liquidity providers who pull their data from interbank rates. Our ability to compare and contrast rates from different providers enables us to provide extremely competitive swap rates.
When will the swap charge or credit be applied to my trade?
Swaps are accumulated by leaving positions open past rollover or 5pm NYC EST/EDT. Swaps will be added/subtracted to open positions, affecting the unrealized net trading profit and loss. Swaps are realized once the positions are closed.
When does Global Prime update the swap rates?
Our swap rates are updated once to twice a week.
Can we see historical swap rates anywhere?
Unfortunately, we do not provide historical data.
How can I calculate the swap on a trade?
To calculate swap rate you can use our trading calculator or follow the equation below:
FX: Pip value X Swap rate in points X exchange rate (if different to account currency)
Example: 0.24 lots AUDUSD (pip value = USD$2.40). Swap rate: 8.34.
Calculation: USD$2.40 X 0.834 = USD$2.00 (rounded from USD$2.0016)
CFD: Lot size x Swap fee (charged in underlying product currency/Margin currency)
Example: NAS100, long swap = -0.89
Calculation: 1 lot X 0.89 = USD89 cents
